A 20-year-old sailor takes his life on a PEMEX platform

Just 2 weeks into the base, it was his first assignment to the open sea.

The young sailor identified as Rodrigo “V” belonged to the infantry corps of the Secretary of the Navy-Navy of Mexico (Semar). This was his first assignment off the mainland when, unfortunately, He committed suicide at the age of 20.

Staff of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) gave notice to the security corporation this Monday, September 12, about the death of the agent in the Nohoch-Alpha platformwhich is part of the Cantarell Field surveillance complex, in the Sonda de Campeche.

The first reports indicate that Rodrigo “V” would have killed himself with his own weapon, a rifle Colt M4 that it used to protect the aforementioned platform in the company of other elements of the dependency.

This platform was guarded by the young man along with his companions and is located approximately 80 kilometers from Campeche. The group of Infants had arrived at the place approximately two weeks ago to protect the Nohoch-Alfa base from acts of piracy and sabotage, common activities in that region.

So far, no reason has been disclosed for which Rodrigo “V” would have decided to take his own life and none of the aforementioned institutions has issued an official statement on his death.
