One dead and 17 injured was the balance left by a road accident involving a transport unit of the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), this Friday morning in the limits of Oaxaca with Gurrero, authorities reported.
According to preliminary information, the incident was recorded on federal highway 200 at kilometer height 125 near the Santa Maria Cortijo.
The vehicle owned by Semar was transporting more than 30 elements from the port of Salina Cruz, Oaxaca, and Tapachula, Chiapas, With direction to Equal, Warrior.
The accident would have originated after the driver of the unit lost control of the truck, overturning on one of its sides.
After the accident, emergency units from the Red Cross, the National Guard, paramedics from the Municipal Civil Protection Unit of Pinotepa Nacional and personnel from the Oaxaca State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPCO) arrived at the scene to assist and transport the wounded to health centers in both Oaxaca and Guerrero.
As a result of the mishap, the marine officer who was leading the unit lost his life and 17 more were injured. Five of them were evaluated at the scene by paramedics and the remaining 12 were transferred to nearby hospitals for immediate attention.
