According to reports, on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 20, an explosion occurred in the area of the Pemex Paredón station in the city of Huimanguillo, Tabasco, which required the evacuation of people and the mobilization of emergency agencies.
The fire and the column of smoke several meters high caused fear among the workers, who quickly tried to leave the facilities so as not to endanger their lives. Initially, it was believed that the incident was caused by a bulldozer accidentally hitting an ethane gas pipeline, but this version has not been confirmed.
The Civil Protection Institute of Tabasco is still analyzing the accident to determine what happened and give the corresponding notice. The first to arrive from Pemex reported that the fire broke out to the right of the Paredón station, fortunately there were no victims.
In addition, the risk for the neighbors is excluded, since the nearest house is about 2 km away, and the closest is the Tecnotabla company, where the employees were also evacuated. It was also announced that the valve was closed and that the gas released after the pipe burst was expected to burn.
