After the civil association of Animal Protection Nitin Mexico denounced an alleged “slaughterhouse” of canines for human consumption, This afternoon the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office and other agencies carried out a search inside the building located in the Benito Juárez neighborhood, where the rescue of at least 80 puppies in a precarious situation and the arrest of the alleged owner were achieved.
Unofficially, it became known about the alleged arrest of the owner of the “slaughterhouse”, who was identified as Bartolomé “C”, who would have been transferred to the headquarters of the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office in Texcoco, under accusations of the crime of animal abuse.
The rescued canines were transferred by municipal police personnel to the Neza Zoonosis facilities, in dozens of transport boxes aboard official units, while the property was insured by the Mexican Prosecutor’s Office.
This terrible case of apparent animal abuse was made known after Nitin Mexico collected the testimonies of neighbors in the area, who warned about the sacrifice of dogs, most of them strays, that were rescued to later slaughter them and sell their meat for human consumption.
According to article 235 Bis of the Penal Code of the State of Mexico, animal abuse is a crime and is established when intentional injuries are caused, abandoned and exposed to risks that threaten their integrity. The penalty is 6 months to 4 years in prison.
In the Benito Juárez Nezahualcóyotl neighborhood, calle la malagueña and cama de piedra, elements of the FGJEM, the Propaem and the Municipal Police of Nezahualcóyotl Edomex carried out a search to rescue at least 100 dogs that were held by their owner.
