The Secretary of National Defense informs that within the framework of the National Strategy for Public Security and the Zero Impunity policy of the federal government, on October 24 of this year, personnel from the Mexican Army seized possible methamphetamine and a vehicle in Sonora .
When carrying out intelligence work and operational planning to strengthen the rule of law in the country and detect criminal organizations with a presence in the aforementioned federal entity, the Mexican Army personnel obtained information on a transfer of drugs from Monterrey, NL, which would be carried out using a truck as a facade, which was destined for Tijuana, BC
As a result of the foregoing, military personnel implemented dissuasive techniques on the Gulf of Santa Clara-San Luis Río Colorado, Son., road section to force the driver of the truck to go to the Strategic Security Military Post “Estación Doctor”, Son. ., in which you set the checkpoint in advance to prevent review evasion.
Upon approaching said vehicle, it was taken to the non-intrusive X-ray inspection area and, subsequently, channeled to the canophile inspection area for review and application of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives, ensuring the following:
- 1,636.34 kg of probable methamphetamine.
- 18.30 kg of a powdery substance similar to fentanyl.
- 14.66 kg of blue pills with characteristics of fentanyl.
- 1.38 kg of a heroin-like substance.
- 1.2 kg of a substance with the particularities of rainbow fentanyl.
The members of the Mexican Army proceeded with the arrest of the person to whom the Booklet of Rights Assisting Persons in Detention was read, and their registration in the National Registry of Detentions was made.
The detainee, the possible drug and the vehicle were made available to the competent authorities, who will verify the legal status and expert confirmation of the type and amount of drug.
These activities were carried out in accordance with the rule of law and respect for human rights, thereby preventing this type of addictive substance from affecting the health and comprehensive development of Mexican youth.
With these actions, the Mexican Army and Air Force endorse their commitment to ensure and safeguard the well-being of citizens, contributing to the Mexican government to guarantee peace and security for the population.
