The bodies of six migrant smugglers were found north of Juarez Cityas reported by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of chihuahua.
According to the source, at 10:40 a.m. local time information was received from members of the State Public Security Secretariat about the location of six corpses on a dirt road on the highway which leads from San Jerónimo to Casas Grandes.
At the moment it is not possible to determine the cause of death, sex and approximate age.
The bodies were wrapped in blankets and had signs of violence, an agent from the State Security Commission (CES) told the media.
Experts who carried out removal of the corpses indicated that there were signs in the place that read “Ethis happens to them for chickens“, a term used in the region for people traffickers, in this case of migrants who try to cross into the United States.
In 2019 alone, the earnings of migrant smugglers in Mexico amounted to 615 million dollars, according to a calculation by the Ministry of the Interior (Segob).
Seven out of 10 migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador who crossed into the United States irregularly through the northern border of Mexico, used a guide or “pollero”.
