María Celemente in 2021 became the first transsexual deputy to enter the Mexican Congress, a year after her appointment, she started a scandal with an explicit sexual video uploaded through her Twitter and declared herself to the media as a “whore” and defending her right as a sex worker and trying to legislate and regulate sex work before the Federal Labor Law.
Clemente initially presented herself under the MORENA party, however since last March she has presented herself as a politician and activist without a flag.
For all these reasons, several deputies have asked for his resignation. “It is my body, my decision. My body is mine, only mine and I have autonomy. My body does not belong to the State”, he has defended.

“If there are administrators, businessmen and lawyers who are still in their offices and can work in their jobs and professions as deputies, I’m sorry, but my job is to be a whore. They pay me to do pornography and I have the right to be a whore”, María Clemente has opined. “Why am I not going to continue working, then prohibit everyone from giving up all their jobs and commercial activities,” she has said.
In this vein, Clemente has asked the Mexican Congress to present its initiative to regulate sex work. “We can see it and we talk about it because they have to regulate it. So I ask Morena, who calls themselves on the left, to do it, ”he added.
“I am going to attack anyone who wants to violate my rights. Human rights support me, the Constitution supports me, I don’t need anyone else, ”she continued.
For this deputy, sex work must be dignified and respected by Mexican society, so, in favor of this, she will seek to legislate and regulate the rights of those who dedicate themselves to this trade and can access basic health services.

The controversy that surrounds María Clemente not only comes from these statements, but also from the videos and photographs that she has published on her social networks in which she appears having sexual relations with a man.
The trans deputy has defended her work as a “whore” explaining that as a legislator in the Mexican Congress she does not receive sufficient remuneration, for which she needs a second job, in this case also pornography.
Given this, a barrage of deputies from the Mexican Congress have called for his resignation. “She uploads pornographic videos, that is disrespectful and an offense to Mexican families. It is a matter of disrespect. Respect is demanded and not acted upon. The deputy is accumulating complaints and complaints, for which she is asked to act ”, requested the deputy of the National Action Party Teresa Castell.
From their previous party, they have reported that they will see the case in accordance with the General Law of the Mexican Congress and the Code of Ethics. “We are going to see where this goes so as not to violate any right or make an early judgment,” explained Ignacio Mier, coordinator of the Morena caucus.
